Last week for our homeschool trip we went to an Organic pig farm, I have been to a pig farm before and this one was not quite what I had expected. The one I had been to before was concrete pens with the pigs in, this one was a farm, thats was all hills and very MUDDY paths, needless to say we were covered from head to foot in mud, I think the kids had a good time, I am not sure as from where I was standing all I could see was mud, a messy group of kids and a very sore leg for me from falling in the mud with rocks underneath. But you have to laugh about it all now that I am clean and warm at home.

Well like i said in an earlier post Jessica has decided of her own steam that she wants to be a part of the History Fair, she has never done anything like it before and I was quite surprised that she was going to do it at all. She has found some books to use.

And drawing endless gowns and dresses, she even has a costume organised for it. But still there is a lot of work to do so we are hoping she can get it done in time for Wednesday.

We went to the fieldays in Hamilton last week with our friend Helen and her children. Some of what we saw were just stalls and things for sale but we looked with great interest [well Jessica did lol] at the Kaimanawa horses on display.

I was fascinated with the Waikato University stall and there weeing cow[pictured above] I couldn’t get a photo as it actually did it’s business but you get the idea. The lady at the stall showed me her website and I spent a great deal of time looking through all her educational stuff.

This was the next great find in the same University stall, you get to actually milk the cow as you can see by Jessica’s great demonstration, and your reward for great milking is not Milk but of course chocolate coins as you can just see at the bottom of the photo.

We went to New Zealand Horse Magic last week on our homeschool trip, of course Jessica didn’t sleep the night before she was so besotted by the fact that it was to do with Horses.
We watched a show and saw the different breeds of horses all dressed up, then each child had a ride on a horse. Afterwards we went to the park for a picnic and home late to a cold house lol.
What a fun filled day, who knew school could be so much fun.

This is when I feel we are really homeschooling, when my son can do something with his hands and really feel proud of his achievements. We got a cheap washing machine only a few weeks ago as we didn’t have one and due to finances had to be cheap, then of course it broke down after only a couple of weeks s I guess you could say I wasn’t too happy. I had the guy out to repair it once and paid him his fee, then of course with washing mounting I was pleased I could catch up on it again, 2 loads later, it broke down again.
The repair man had told me it was a block in the pump so said to my son “how do you feel about pulling the washing machine apart with mum and seeing if we can fix it, rather than paying again”, I mean how hard can it be?
He replied with “yeah I will give it a go”
So we went forth and took the machine outside, took the pump apart and fixed it ourselves, before this I had no idea what part the pump even was.
But 10 mins later it was back inside, power on and hey presto it worked. I have now done several days of washing and still working fine, fingers crossed lol.
